Mixed Media Assemblages

I incorporate objects into my assemblages for their metaphoric significance. My goal is to create visually appealing miniature settings that contain a degree of mystery and meaning, inviting scrutiny and offering opportunities for active participation by the viewer.

I’ve been interested in small-scale work since I made little scenes in walnut shells to sell by the counter of my uncle’s store in Ferrisburg fifty years ago. After working in schools, libraries, an herb farm, post office, weaving and floorcloth studios, and decades of making and teaching origami, I have returned to my love of “working small” in the medium of assemblages.
