Hand-Woven Scarves from Hand-Painted Yarns
Weaving is all about color for me. I love to see how different color combinations play out together. In the last few years I have also started to experiment with dye. I like to lay out a warp ( the body of the scarf) on the floor and paint the individual strands of yarn. In my warps there are usually 100-250 strands or threads and they are around 3 yards long. Some times I will also paint the yarn for the weft ( the horizontal strands of the scarf) for a specific project.

I have been weaving for over 10 years, mostly scarves and now tapestries. I have five different looms which I use to make different sizes and patterns. I never make the exact same scarf twice. I start out with an idea in my head and then let it change and evolve as I work. I always have a new idea to try. I use mostly viscose chenille, bamboo, and cotton yarns because they are my personal favorites. I love the softness, durability, and vivid colors.
